Red tailed shark.....Does anyone have good/bad experiences?

I want to get one red tailed shark for my tank he will be with tiger barbs, redline torpedo barbs and a gourami. Can one get mean or will he be okay since i'm adding later on? Any experiences with them will be appreciated thanks!
