Was the Gilded Age good or bad for America?
Its all about opinion, I think it was bad, despite all the great economy and capitalism and innovations that was going on around that time, there was a ton of bad trusts, corruption of politicans and businessmen, and the lower cl lucked out entirely. It showed the worst of America at its best. The many factories and plants that help create all those products and stuff were done by children and the conditions were brutal and low pay. The bussinessmen were pretty much calling the shots for Capitol Hill, they would cheat and bribe to get there ways and avoided the law. That was why it was called the Gilded Age, gilding something means covering it up with gold. It looked nice on the outside but it was ugly and crude on the inside.
